# The auspicious time (SUMUHURTAM) for a marriage is meant for when the bride and the bride groom - for the first time - look into the eyes of each other. It's not the time when the bride groom ties the knot.
# Also, the bride and bride-groom are made to place a mixture paste of Jeera-Jaggery on each other's head around BRAHMARANDHRA (a place where human soul dwells),at SUMUHURTAM . Jeera-Jaggery paste has a trait of creating positive vibrations. This ritual helps in creating Affection and Compassion in the bride and bride-groom towards each other.
# MANGALA SUTRAM signifies 'Nurturing' aspect of life - that ensures Abundance and Longevity for the married life of the couple. Bride-groom ties the MANGALA SUTRAM to the bride, recognizing the bride as 'an authoritarian protecting energy for his life'.
# Having both bride and bride-groom sit together (kind of 'reception') and getting them blessed by elders - before the SUMUHURTAM is not at all acceptable.
Without passing the SUMUHURTAM ritualistically, a bride and bride-groom can't be considered as a couple. The elders who bless them in such case also would be considered as 'committing a sin'.
# Considering the modern day conditions, life-style and problems with marriage venues - there is a remedy for such a situation. During reception, the bride and bride-groom could be made to sit with a KALASA filled with water kept between them. The elders can bless each of them individually to have a good and happy married life.
