Shanmatha Sthapana

Sri Adi Sankaracharya - is the honorable Guru of SANATANA DHARMA. He established the
doctrine of ADVAITHA - which proposes the unification of ATMAN with NIRGUNA BRAHMAN.

When SANATANA DHARMA - with hundreds of sects, sub-sects and schools
of thought trying to counter-argue each other - was almost at the edge of extinction, Lord Siva was trusted to have taken birth as Sri Adi Sankaracharya to save SANATANA DHARMA (HINDU DHARMA).

JAGADGURU Sri Adi Sankaracharya Swamy traveled all over India on foot, from corner to corner 'three times' within his life time of 32 years.

NO WORDS IN ANY LITERATURE ARE SUFFICIENT TO DESCRIBE WHAT SRI ADI SANKARACHARYA CONTRIBUTED TO SANATANA DHARMA AND TOWARDS RELIGIOUS REFINEMENT IN INDIA.

With enormous contribution by Sri Adi Sankaracharya Swamy, hundreds and thousands of schools of thought raised in and around SANATANA DHARMA, were streamlined and standardized as what we see today.

HINDUISM - is thus standardized, streamlined and enriched with SHANMATA STHAPANA (six systems of worship as believed by SMARTHA tradition) by Sri Adi Sankaracharya. These six
schools of worship are:

Saivam - where Lord Siva is the presiding deity
Vaishnavam - where Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity
Ganapatyam - where Lord Ganapathy is the presiding deity
Shakteyam - where Mother Goddess is the presiding deity
Skanda - where Lord Kartikeya is the presiding deity
Bhaskara - where Lord Sun is the presiding deity

Though all are considered to be the reflections of the same SAGUNA BRAHMAN (God in a specific form), these schools of worship cater to different people with different traits and tastes - who, finally, should grow and understand the ultimate NIRGUNA BRAHMAN (form-less God).
